What types of therapy are available?
Medical intervention based on operations, the whole spectrum of physiotherapy and conventional allopathic medication do not require any activity on the part of the patient. Artistic therapies like speech formation, music, painting, clay modelling, curative eurhythmy, conversation therapy (psychotherapy, biographical work), nutrition, movement, and relaxation techniques all presuppose the active participation of the patient.
Medical treatment includes on the one hand the prescription of anthroposophical medicines prepared along natural processes, and whose individual composition depends on the general symptoms of the illness in question. Besides this, additional medication is given which is determined by the individual characteristics of the patient. This mostly consists of homeopathic medicines which support the activity of the person’s own organism in its powers of self-healing. So Anthroposophical Medicine uses methods that affect the patient as an object, but to augment this, it also recommends methods that include him as an actively engaged subject.
