Eurythmy as contemporary art of movement

In the world of movement art, eurythmy, which Rudolf Steiner inaugurated in 1912, is a relatively “new” phenomenon. In the 90 or so years since it was first developed, it has already found application in many diverse fields of work. Thus eurythmy is encountered not only as performance art but also in many areas of education, therapy and adult education.

Eurythmy derives its content from poetry and music. The eurythmist does not accompany speech or music with interpretative movements but, through eurythmy’s gestures and movements, reveals the laws innate in sounds and brings them into an artistically formed flow of movement which corresponds to the particular character of each work.
